REDARC LiFePO4 batteries give you far more usable power than lead-acid, in a lighter, longer-lasting package built for the road. We supply and install them — sized, wired and set up properly for how you actually travel — at our Christchurch workshop.
Switching to lithium (LiFePO4) is the single biggest upgrade most RVs can make to their power. The batteries cost more up front, but you get far more usable power, much less weight, and years more life — and REDARC build theirs tough, for the vibration, heat and hard use of vehicle life.
The catch is that lithium isn't a straight drop-in for lead-acid: it charges differently and needs the rest of the system set up to suit. That's the part we take care of — more on that below.
You can safely use almost all of a lithium battery's capacity, versus roughly half of a lead-acid one. A 100Ah lithium gives you similar real-world power to around 200Ah of lead-acid — for less than half the weight.
REDARC lithium batteries are engineered for rugged mobile use, with a quality built-in Battery Management System (BMS) that protects the cells, balances them, and guards against over-charge, over-discharge and other faults.
Far more usable capacity means you can stay out longer between charges, running more of what you want.
Lithium accepts charge much faster than lead-acid, so a shorter drive or less sun still tops you up.
Around half the weight of the equivalent lead-acid bank — a real saving on payload and handling.
Many times the cycle life of lead-acid, so the higher up-front cost often works out cheaper over time.
Lithium holds its voltage as it drains, so appliances run consistently rather than fading as the battery drops.
The built-in battery management system looks after the cells automatically, for safe, reliable, long-term use.
Drop a lithium battery into a system still set up for lead-acid and you'll never get the most from it — and you can shorten its life. To perform and last, lithium needs the whole charging picture set up to suit. That's what we do:
What do you run, and for how long? Fridge, lights and charging is modest; add induction cooking, a coffee machine or air-con and your needs climb quickly.
How long between charges? The longer you want to stay off-grid without good sun or a drive, the more battery capacity you need behind it.
How will you charge? Solar, alternator (driving), mains, or a mix — this decides the supporting gear that goes with the battery.
Not sure? That's what we're here for. Tell us your vehicle and how you travel and we'll size the battery and the whole system to suit — no guesswork, no over-spending. Our solar calculator is a good starting point, too.
Tell us about your vehicle, your batteries and how you travel. We'll recommend the right REDARC lithium setup and take care of the whole install — honest advice, no obligation.
