What Does an Inverter Actually Do?
Your RV's batteries store 12V (or 24V) DC power — the kind that runs your lights, water pump and fridge. But the appliances you use at home — a kettle, a microwave, a hair dryer, a laptop charger — need 230V AC mains power, the kind that comes out of a wall socket.
An inverter is the box that bridges the two. It takes the DC power from your batteries and converts it into clean 230V AC, so you can plug in and run household gear wherever you are — no campsite hook-up, no generator, no noise.
Why "Pure Sine Wave"?
REDARC's inverters produce a smooth, clean power wave — the same quality as mains power at home. That matters for sensitive electronics, chargers, and anything with a motor or compressor, which can run hot, buzz, or fail on cheaper "modified sine wave" units.
Built-in Transfer Switch (ATS)
The RS3 range includes an automatic transfer switch. When you plug into mains or campsite power, it switches over automatically — your appliances keep running without you flicking anything, and it passes shore power straight through.

Right-Sized Inverter
Matched to the appliances you actually run, allowing for start-up spikes — not over-spec'd, not caught short.
A Battery Bank to Match
A big inverter needs enough battery behind it to run for as long as you need. We size the two together so they work as a system.
Correct Cabling & Fusing
Cables that are too thin or too long cause voltage drop, shutdowns and overheating. Proper cable, fusing and connections to AS/NZS standards are non-negotiable.
Safe, Compliant Install
Even from a 12V battery, 230V is every bit as dangerous as a wall socket. Inverter output should be installed and certified properly — which ties into your EWOF.
A Quick Way to Narrow It Down
What's the biggest thing you want to run? A coffee machine and kettle point to 2000W; air conditioning or big power tools point to 3000W; just laptops, tools and a microwave, and 1200W may be plenty.
How many things at once? Most setups run one high-power appliance at a time. If you want to run several together, that pushes you up a size.
How long between charges? The longer you want to run 230V gear off-grid, the bigger the battery bank behind the inverter needs to be — we size both together.
