A motorhome solar installation should feel simple: park up, enjoy your spot, and know your batteries will recover each day. We design systems that suit your power use, your roof layout, and New Zealand conditions—then install them neatly and safely.
What's included in our motorhome solar installs
- System planning (what you want to run, how you travel, seasonal sunlight, roof space)
- Matched components (solar panels, controller/regulator, protection devices, quality cabling)
- Professional installation (secure mounting, tidy roof entry, correct fusing and cable sizing)
- Testing + handover so you understand charging, battery status and expected performance
Get the right mix of solar + batteries
Solar panel wattage is only half the story—battery capacity and battery type determine how long you can run loads overnight and how quickly your system recovers. If you're upgrading for longer stays or heavier loads, consider RV battery upgrades alongside your solar install.
Running 230V appliances? You may need an inverter
If you want to run higher-draw appliances off-grid, an inverter is often the missing piece. We can integrate solar, batteries and inverter installation into a complete power system.

Which motorhome solar package should I choose?
Start with how you travel: weekends vs extended off-grid, and what you want to power (fridge, devices, TV, coffee machine, etc.). Then factor in roof space and battery capacity. Our Solar Calculator is a good starting point, and we can confirm the best fit before installation.
Does solar work in winter?
Solar still charges in winter, but daily harvest is lower—so correct sizing and battery capacity matter more. If you regularly tour in colder months, we'll recommend a setup that keeps you comfortable and powered.
Can you upgrade an existing motorhome solar setup?
Yes—if your current system can't keep up, we can expand panels, improve regulation, and optimise charging. See Expand Existing RV & Caravan Solar Systems.
How long does a motorhome solar install take?
Time depends on roof layout, access, and whether you're adding batteries or an inverter. When you enquire, include your motorhome make/model and what you want to power—then we'll advise the best approach and timeframe.
